Supervision & Confidentiality
I have regular supervision and I will talk about your case with my supervisor. Your identity remains anonymous with a reference code. Our sessions remain confidential between us however only in significant circumstances would we have to compromise confidentiality such as references made to terrorism, money laundering, serious harm to self or others particularly children. If this was to happen, I would consult with you first before we consider next steps.
General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
All personal data and notes are kept for 6 years after the last session. For children, it is up to the age of 25 years old. Once this period of storage expires all information both electronically and hardcopies are deleted and shredded respectively. The information shared with me is held in strict confidence and all electronically stored information is secured on a password protected drive. We only use third party if it is an essential part of the service. In this case it will be for limited data such as name and email address. For example, we use Hushmail for email communication, Signable for document completion and Zoom for online counselling by video webcam.

Lau Counselling is fully insured with Oxygen Insurance and registered with the Information Commissioner's Office for GDPR.
